The Vasa Rediviva Foundation was established in 1960 to collect money and channel contributions to the salvage and care of the ship Vasa from 1628.

After the successful salvage in 1961, the foundation, by managing its capital and distributing the returns, has been able to continue contributing financially to the Vasa Museum. The foundation has financially supported research projects, exhibitions, publication of non-fiction about Vasa and other activities for the benefit of the ship and the museum.

For over sixty years, the returns from Vasa Rediviva's capital have been able to make important contributions to the Vasa Museum's operations. With the Support Vasa project, the foundation enters a new phase, with clear connections to the support for the salvage in 1961.

Support Vasa

In the next few years, the foundation's most important task is to collect financial funds for the project Support Vasa.

Vasa needs a new support structure. The support structure that has been holding Vasa since the salvage in 1961 needs to be replaced, as it is damaging the ship and causing deformations in the hull. This is due to the weakening of the ship’s wood. The new support structure is based on many years of research through the research project Support Vasa.

The new support structure is the biggest challenge that the Vasa Museum has undertaken since the salvaging and conservation of the ship. The museum needs help to fund construction of the support structure and has therefore launched a fundraising campaign aimed at the general public, donors and sponsors.

Here on the website, there is information on how to contact the museum for larger donations. The donations go to the Vasa Rediviva foundation. 100% of all donations received will be used for the work to provide Vasa a new support structure.
